Living in Brant, Guelph

A north-end residential neighbourhood with a broad mix of housing, local parks, schools and long-standing community programming.

Brant is a north-Guelph neighbourhood centred around Brant Avenue and the residential streets near Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North. It contains a wider range of housing forms than a single-era subdivision, including detached houses, townhouses and apartment properties.

The Brant Avenue Neighbourhood Group and Friendship Place give the area a visible community hub. Parks, schools and community gardening are woven into the neighbourhood, while larger commercial and employment areas are accessible along Woodlawn Road.

Approximate location

Brant occupies the north and northeast part of the city around Brant Avenue, Algonquin Drive and Woodlawn Road East. Its exact community-service boundary extends beyond the street that gives the neighbourhood its name.

Housing and streetscape

Housing includes detached bungalows and two-storey homes, townhouses, social and co-operative housing, apartment buildings and later infill. Property age, tenure and lot form vary across the area.

Parks, trails and landmarks

The Brant Avenue Community Garden is located at Brant Avenue Public School and includes communal and individual growing spaces. Riverside Park and Guelph Lake-area recreation are also accessible from the north end.
